Swedish Life Update 5.1

I have been unresponsive the past couple months here. I apologize for being a lazy admin and contributor to the comments and discussions. Let me give you all an update on life.

After spending nearly 75 fruitless days finding an apartment, we found one! Moved off to another secondhand apartment in the city. Now we have a place to live.

I officiated a friend’s wedding at a castle in Sweden. It was awesome. My friends were already legally married, so I just did a secular service.

Cleaned the old apartment. Scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush is always fun…

Packed and unpacked. Actually, yes to the former and no to the latter. We still have 10 boxes to deal with in the new apartment.

Naniji (my farmor) passed away at the end of August. Not only did I not get to see her before she passed, I did not have a valid visa to enter India.

Visit to USA to get an Indian visa. The worst and most humiliating experience ever, I submitted more than 40 pages of documentation for my mom and myself in order to obtain an “entry” visa to India. More on that nightmare later. Note to Indian Government and Ministry of External Affairs: I’m now proud to NOT be an Indian. It’s a disgrace the way you treat former citizens.

Back to Sweden for a week break, then to India to pay respects. I finally made it to India to at least pay respects to my grandma, deal with family drama, and visit my remaining grandparent. I’m really sad to not see my grandma, but with so much going on, I had no time to process it. It still has not sunk in.

40,000 miles later…home in Sweden. Feels great to be back home. Now I’m getting into the groove of things again. Oh, and I’m looking for a job again. I’m trying to heed my own advice on finding a job in Sweden. Hoping to start soon as being a hemmafru is boring. Really boring. :)

Oh, and am simultaneously wedding planning. Yea, we’ll see how that goes.

Thanks Dano. Take care of yourself too. Congrats on the PUT, always a nice feeling. =)

PS – I just did some updates on the blog so it caused some funkiness when commenting and loading. If you have a funky look, clear your “Cache” (in the toolbar of the browser) and things should be fine.

Also, Lovedoctor has made me a new logo and background. Let me know how it looks! And if you like it, give him a big thanks.
