It’s that time of the year again! Swedes basking in sweetness and rolling around in cinnamon rolls. It is national kanelbulle day in Sweden, yet one more of the Swedish food holidays. And one of the major dessert days, semlor day and waffle day are earlier in the year.
I buy bulle from anywhere but if you have a favorite cafe, let us know!

Grab a kanelbulle and a coffee and go fika with friends.
Wait, there's more to read!

This is totally going to be my excuse for eating our massive bag of cinnamon rolls today that F&I baked a couple weeks ago and froze before he comes home today. Bah ha ha ha!

So _THAT_ would be why the Sålta Kvarn was selling kanelbulle outside the store for cheap.

awww! Can’t eat these things since I’m gluten-free diet only, guess it’s a good thing I don’t live in Sweden, or I’d feel really left out.

Thanks for posting the holiday! I was able to get my Swede (we live in the US) kanelbulle. Were they authentic..probably not, but it’s the thought that counts, right? :) Anyways they were a big hit, so thanks!

What is the deal with a cinnamon bun on that particular day?

lola – nice! it’s the thought that counts. i still love american cinnamon rolls too.
Jessica – very silly actually. it was the 40th anniversary of Hembakningsrådet (home bakery association?) in 1999 and they celebrated with kanelbulle. Now it’s a nationwide celebration.
Juni – booo! I found this gluten free cinnamon roll recipe: http://glutenfreegirl.blogspot.com/2009/12/gluten-free-cinnamon-rolls.html
Maybe try it out and let us know.
